1. INTRODUCTION
Hello
all!
This
is our premiere newsletter. We decided that it's time to send out a newsletter
to keep you posted on what we've been up to. We will keep it simple
and to the point, and hope to contain information that you will find newsworthy.
This
is a one-time mailing. We invite you to subscribe
if you wish to continue receiving this newsletter. There will only be
about two issues per year. After all, who needs more junk mail!

2. WEB SITE UPDATES
(Severine's
been working hard...)

Improved navigation: The web site has been restructured for easier navigation
by using simple "frames".
- Downloads are now available: Blacklordof Cairo's breeding contracts,
as well as his extended pedigree, are now available for downloading (using
the Acrobat Reader).
- More pictures: A lot more pictures of Blacklordof Cairo have been uploaded.
There's also a new page of "cute" and "pretty" pictures (accessible through
the foal page or Cairo's picture page).
- Foals: Added a page that will list Blacklordof Cairo foals. Some will
be for sale. The page has descriptions, as well as pictures of the foals
listed. At this time, you will find one gorgeous filly there, and
she's for sale!
- IAHA: Added a page that outlines the benefits of membership and of the
sweepstakes program.
- AI costs: Added two pages that outline breeding related costs, one for
breeding using transported cooled semen, and one for frozen semen.
- AI links: There are a few more links on the AI page
- Newsletter: Added a page that has subscription and removal details,
as well the archives for this newsletter

4. CANADIAN NATIONALS
We
will be attending the last few days of the Canadian Nationals, held in
Regina, SK.
Hope to see some of you there!

5. CURRENT PROJECTS

Transported cooled semen: We are currently getting set up for transported
cooled semen shipments. Transported frozen semen is also still available.

Coat color genetics article: Severine wrote an article that introduces
black coat color genetics. The Canadian Arabian News is planning
on publishing it in their Stallion/Breeding issue.

PAHR: We are working hard at registrating Blacklordof Cairo with the PAHR,
so that we can send transported semen to countries where the registries
are WAHO Registering Authority Members.

Sweepstakes nomination: We are currently working on Blacklordof Cairo's
Sweepstakes nomination. He should be nominated this year, so that all
2001 foals will be eligible as Sweepstakes Breeding entries.

AI issues: Updated info on breeding using frozen semen, and more info
on breeding using cooled semen.
- Pictures: Even more pictures of Blacklordof Cairo and the filly for
sale, and some of the older stallion pictures re-scanned and reworked
for better quality
- Foal registration: A page of details on the requirements and procedures
of foal registration, including the CAHR, AHR, IAHA, and WAHO registries
- Links page: More links, and possibly even organized into categories

6. ALMOST OLD NEWS
-
This past march, Clint attended the Reproduction Workshop at the Equine
Research Center, University of Guelph (Ontario). This workshop dealt with
virtually all aspects of reproduction, including artificial insemination,
stallion management, and mare management.

The Veterinary Genetics Lab at UC-Davis performed the Red Factor test
on Blacklordof Cairo, and found that he is indeed homozygous for black.
